Commonly used as an herb, Chives are the meekest of all the members in the onion family. It has a mild flavor that can vary from nutty to earthy. High in Vitamin C, potassium and folic acid, it is commonly added to modern recipes to restore vital nutrients that are lost in cooking.
Fresh Tips: Chives do not freeze well; store in plastic bags and keep in chiller drawer of the refrigerator for a few days. Mix chives with softened butter and keep in refrigerator again to harden the butter. Chop into small slices when needed for additional flavor on steaks, chicken and veal.
